Woods: The Next Pollock?

Woods—as in Tiger Woods—just might get to be the next Jackson Pollock if marketers get their way. This short, PR-driven Reuters video offers a different take on the intersection (collission?) of culture, media, and capital:

“Golfing master Tiger Woods creates three Jackson Pollock-style masterpieces for charity by painting with the artful strokes of his irons and woods. The paintings will be auctioned during the Buick Open in June.”

Consider what a 1959 news headline said about Pollock:

“This is not art—it’s a joke in bad taste.”
